Hands-on training through each step of preparing a newscast; if you’re a veteran, making your newscast better. Instruction in the basics and finer points of writing; critiquing your tapes and writing samples; giving you writing assignments. You will train on newroom software and in a control room.
Skills Developed:
- Managing your time as you produce a newscast
- Stacking stories effectively
- Using graphics, B roll and sound bites intelligently
- Writing compelling copy
- Communicating effectively with anchors, producers, and news directors
- Developing strategies to manage on air “melt-downs” in the control room
