Newscast Producer/Writer Training, 1819 L St., NW, Washington, DC
 

Hands-on training through each step of preparing a newscast; if you’re a veteran, making your newscast better.  Instruction in the basics and finer points of writing; critiquing your tapes and writing samples; giving you writing assignments. You will train on newroom software and in a control room. 

Skills Developed:

  • Managing your time as you produce a newscast
  • Stacking stories effectively
  • Using graphics, B roll and sound bites intelligently
  • Writing compelling copy
  • Communicating effectively with anchors, producers, and news directors
  • Developing strategies to manage on air “melt-downs” in the control room
